New nature guidebook “Via Alpina – Totes Gebirge”
The Via Alpina Purple Trail crosses all the Totes Gebirge mountain range from East to West. One encounters there not only an extraordinary Alpine flora, in complete opposition with the name of this limestone massif (Totes Gebirge = Dead Mountain), but also centuries-old culture and tradition which are still well alive in the Ausseerland country.
After the Carnic Range and the Ötztal, and in collaboration with Bad Aussee Alpine Town of the Year 2010, the Totes Gebirge is the subject of a new guidebook in the Austrian Alpine Club’s “Naturkundliche Führer” series. Written by Gerlinde and Hand Haid, it includes numerous ancient and contemporary colour pictures. Check the Documentation section for all details.
