Chiareggio (1612m) is a small but well known summer holiday resort in Valcamenico situated in wonderful natural scenery of great interest and a starting point for mountain climbs in the Disgrazia Group. In the past the resort was an important crossing and staging post for the Passo del Muretto (2562m), one can still find the hostelry with a large stable for mules. In Chiareggio itself: the little church of S.Anne, 18th century, from here there is an open view of the amphitheatre and of the glacial circles formed by Monte Sissone and the Peaks of Rosso and Vezzeda. From Chiareggio one can reach the glacial path “Vittorio Sella” in the Ventina glacier, one the most studied in Europe. In September the Alpeggio festival is held.
