Great War's Thematic Park
Historical and architectural information:
It’s’ a true open-air museum on the First World War, located on the heights around Monfalcone. The route snakes in caves and trenches, both Italian and Austrian-Hungarian ones, paired just a few metres apart, where one can find hope and peace messages, writings and incisions left by the fighters, as well as war stations. The Park is structured into three main theme areas: Area 1 (altitude 121 of “Pietrarossa” – “Redstone”, n.d.T.), Area 2 (saddle – altitude 85 “Enrico Toti”), Area 3 (Joffre trench and “Virgin” cave), all marked by clear indications and linked between them by a good forest viability.
