Vallo Littorio's Forts
Historical and architectural information: Gallery fortification works (military engineering) are part and parcel of the defensive compound erected in Carnia during World War II. Furnished with two active entrances, 5 or 6 concrete casemates for machine guns, dormitories, depots and all that’s necessary for their activities, the major part of the fortifications’ development is linear, obtained under the rocks of the area’s relieves. They develop onto three underground floors for a total maximum height difference of 30 metres; vertical links are realized through round wells that would house winding staircases. Such cave works lie in the wonderful environment of the Carniche Hills’ Intermunicipality Park.
