From Poschiavo head to the south, up to Selva through woodland. From here, the trail leads to the Cancian pass, where the border into Italy is also crossed. It climbs to the Campagneda pass and then goes down, near the lakes, to Piano di Campagneda. Then on to the stunning Alpeggio di Prabello high pasture and the Cristina hut, and then past Alpe Campagneda pasture to the Zoia hut in Campo Moro.
From Poschiavo, the main town in the Puschlav valley, which has several times fallen victim to major storms and devastation, follow the trail to Vamporti. Cross the road that leads to Clef and the serpentine stone quarries. To the right on the slopes above the Quadrada Alp, you can still see traces of an old mine. In 1878, a company was founded to exploit the asbestos deposits. The asbestos was of very good quality, but the firm did not stand a chance of surviving. In the 19th century, many roads and alpine trails were built in the Puschlav valley, including the Berninastrasse road, which still exists today. This drained the municipal treasury, and in order to pay off the debts, Alp Cancian was also auctioned off in 1859 for CHF 9,075.00. The remarkable sea pink, approx. 20cm in height, grows on the moraine scree. In the Puschlav valley, it only occurs in this area. The sea pink has little pinky-red blossoms and resembles the chive. Not far from the little pass lake, the trail reaches the “Passo da Cancian” pass at 2,464m. (Bündner Wanderwege BAW) From the Canciano Pass (2464m), the border between Italy and Switzerland, follow the trail along the top of Val Poschiavina to the Campagneda Pass (2626m). The pass is a squeeze through rocks that extend downwards from the peak of Pizzo Scalino (3323m), which towers above the Campagneda plain. The trail heads downwards, skirting the Campagneda lakes, going past Alpe Campagneda (2145 m) and continuing along the length of the Campagneda plain. The signs then indicate a tortuous trail that leads to the Zoia hut (2021m) in about 20 minutes. (Regione Lombardia)
Natural and cultural heritage
Valle di Campo Moro (2021m): the Lanterna stream runs through this valley, plunging into the gently sloping vale of Alpe Moro. The valley is sealed by an initial dam holding 10 million m3; a second dam, gravity driven and 110m high, further seals the valley, creating a reservoir of 65 million m3, one of the largest artificial lakes in Italy. The water drives the power stations in Campo Moro, Lanzada and Sondrio. The serpentine rock formations of the Sasso Moro peak (3108m) contain veins of white calcite which contains striking cubic perovskite crystals, a titanium mineral that is typical of Malenco valley, as well as magnetite or loadstone and ilmenite. The Vale of Campagneda and the Zòia hut: Mount Spondascia (2867m) dominates in the north. To the east there is the Campagneda pass (2601m) leading to the Italian part of Val Poschiavina and, after the Uer pass, to the Swiss part of the same, and also the flanks of the Suffrine mountains ending with Mounts Il Cornetto (2848m) and Pizzo Scalino (3323m). To the south are the Prabello pastures. It is clear that glaciers formed the basin from the large number of lakes, (Campagneda being one of the largest), the now dry ravines, the marshes and the peat bogs. Some of the lakes owe their existence to erosion caused by glaciers whilst the lower ones were caused by morainic deposits blocking off the valley. The entire area is of great natural beauty and, with many pleasant walks to be had in alpine surroundings, certainly worth a visit. Italian Val Poschiavina: a lonely valley, little known or visited. It is interesting from the point of view of the landscape and the rock formations. The moutonnée and striated rocks bear witness to the erosion caused by glaciers, as do the enormous potholes. To the right, the valley leads to Lake Gera (east) with a 200m-high lip forming a waterfall that gives birth to the Poschiavino stream. From the old huts (2230m) the U-shaped valley begins. It continues south east for over 2km with two rocky steps leading each time to swampy plains. To the left of the gully that forms the bottom of the valley (north) is the wall of the Ruzze mountains (2805-2797m) the south face of which is known as Sassi Bianchi (white rocks) because of the chalky rock; the rock face ends at the bottom of the valley with the Corno (Horn) delle Ruzze peak, also known as Capàscio (2808m). The other wall of the valley (South) is formed by Mount Spondaccia (2867m) and at the top of that rise is the Campagneda pass (2626m) leading to the valley of the same name. At the top of the valley is the Uer pass on the left and, in a dip between moutonnée rocks in the centre, the Canciano pass. (Regione Lombardia)

Possibility of housing at the convent, Frs 65 night and breakfast. Otherwise expensive enough in the village. For information and meals, the boss of the restaurant "Motrice" is very helpful and we eat very well.
You may consider staying at Refugio Runcash (rooms only). Zoia is near a parking lot, and crowded with noisy tourists that want to experience a night at a hut.

We began our Via Alpina hike in Poschiavo and started with this stage. It took substantially longer than anticipated (~ 11 hrs) - was raining, so that contributed, but also because after Pass Campagneda is a long, tricky descent down a rock fall. From Poschiavo station one can order a PostAuto Bus (min. 1 hour in advance) up to Selva to avoid the first 400 m climb out of town - I strongly recommend doing this to ensure reaching Campo Moro before dark
Rifugio Christina sehr empfehlenswert!

The climb is long. The way of the REF. Christina is a detour. It is too long, which runs directly to the camp of Moro (easily seen from the pass just came out) and below on the Alpe Campagne, where it meets the dirt road, right away.
