Leave Lenk heading westward and continue over the Wallegg ridge into the Wallbachgraben rift. On the other side of the valley, pass via Lochberg to reach the Trütlisberg pass, from where a descent through woods and along the stream bed to Lauenen, the stage destination, begins.
From Lenk train station, walk down to the main road, across the Simmenbrücke bridge and straight on to the church. Before the church, turn to the west and climb uphill past some holiday chalets to the ski lift. Follow the road to reach the Wallbach mountain lodge. At the left-hand bend in the road, turn into the romantic Wallbachschlucht ravine. At the end of the ravine path, the trail zigzags along the wooded slope up to the In der Siten meadowland. The alpine trail leads past Under Lochberg to Ober Lochberg, then along the valley side of the Wistätthorn up to the Trüttlis mountain pass, which offers a wonderful view over the Wildstrubel, the Wildhorn and into the Saanenland region. The extensive gypsum deposits to the south of the pass stand out due to their light colour, giving the visual impression of snow. From the pass, head diagonally to the left over the meadow slopes down to the huts in the Vordere Trüttlisberg on the forest’s edge and straight ahead along a downhill path over a ridge to an alpine trail through meadows and woodland that crosses the Schwarzbächli stream at Zwüschbäche to reach Rütschli. The romantic footpath at the Mülibach stream leads down to Lauenen. (Schweizer Wanderwege).
Natural and cultural heritage
Lauenen The tranquil village of Lauenen is referred to in 1312 as Louwina. Supposedly it was settled from the west over the Gelten pass, which today is no longer in use. Together with Saanen and Gsteig, Lauenen belonged to the county of Greyerz until 1555. Then it became part of Bern. In 1520/21, the church of St. Petrus was built in late Gothic style. The nave boasts flat carvings and dates back to the year 1524, and the choir gallery is by Leo Steck (1593). This beautiful house of worship is especially treasured for its good acoustics by soloists, choirs and orchestra. On the village square stands the Mühlehaus (mill house), built in 1765. Richly decorated with carvings and paintings, it is considered to be one of the finest examples of old Saanenland architecture. In 1803, Gsteig and Lauenen were made independent political and ecclesiastical communities. On the way to the very popular Lauenensee lake south of the village, you will come across the equally interesting Jägerhaus (hunting house, built in 1796) in the “Schupfe”. It is painted with original hunting scenes. In front of the post office stands a beautiful wooden well. Lauenen is included on the federal inventory of localities deserving protection.
Trail may be difficult to follow at times on the way from Lauenen to Trütlisbergpass. Beautiful views on this stage. Plenty of streams to refill water on the way down to Lenk. Camping platz outside of Lenk; follow the main road south.
Sehr schöne Unterkunft in Lauenen: B&B Panorama.

From steering to Lauenen one should not be fooled by the Via Alpina-located signposts. While going green the official Via Alpina ends in Lenk, the National Hiking Nr. 1 in Switzerland, so far identical, continue with the appropriate signposting until Montreux. See http://www.wanderland.ch/de/routen/route-01.html When Trüttlisbergpass the no. 1 bends over Tube / Türli off towards Gstaad, during the red path leads down to Lauenen. Very nice accommodation in Lauenen: B & B Panorama.

It's worth a stroll around Launen to admire its lovely old church and the abundant vegetable gardens of the residents. Careful observers might also spot the pot plants among the flowers in more than one garden... Right on Launen!

Launen has a "Turistlager" (hostel) located across from its church that opens at 18:00. (Tourist office in Launen can provide number to reserve.) For a step "up", Hotel Wildhorn nearby offers cozy rooms and EXCELLENT cuisine. The hotel was acquired by two Swiss actors in 2011, who are giving it their heart & soul. Ambiance is an amusing mix of local farmers holding their 'Stammtisch' over beers, and the well-heeled crowd from Gstaad that come to dine.

the time indicated to cover the 1,4km from Obere Lochberg to Trütlisbergpass is greatly over estimated. It takes only about 30 minutes.
I spent the night in Hotel Geltenhorn for 50 CHF for a single bed room.
The Food was excellent!

In Lauenen, the Wildhorn Hotel there is a spare room which will cost CHF 65. Ask for it because the other rooms are sold first. I was told that the Geltenhorn hotel would be cheaper.
