Leave the village of Sonogno on the road heading to the west, and continue until its end. This is where the pass trail over the Forcella di Redòrta begins, passing the hamlet of Püscen Negro. After the crossing, head down into the Val di Pertüs valley and follow its river on the right to reach Monti di Predee. The nature trail leads to Prato Sornico, the stage destination.
It is absolutely essential to make an early start in Sonogno. Leave the village by the western exit and follow the road along the river to point 1047. This is where the trail starts to climb up to the pass crossing at 2,181m, passing the hamlet of Püscen Negro, which used to be inhabited all year round. The little church, still in good condition, is worth a visit. It is also interesting to see the alpine dairy at work. There are only a few remaining Tessin Alps on which alpine dairy farming is still practiced according to traditional methods – hand milking and cheese processing in the house. The entire climb to the couloir passes alongside the river. After the crossing, head down into the Pertüs valley to Mount Predee, passing some dilapidated alpine settlements with huts with gaps in place of roofs. A picture of sad resignation. From Mount Predee, continue along a dry river bed. The water was sacrificed to progress, in other words the production of electrical energy. Follow the dirt road that leads to Pratom. Magnificent bourgeois houses adorn the Prato Sornico meadowland, indicating its prosperity and level of culture, a consequence of emigration; these are the houses of inhabitants who made their fortune in 19th century Germany. Natural and cultural heritage
Prato-Sornico As the main town in the Lavizzara region, Prato Sornico is worth mentioning for historical reasons. In the past, a landvogt who lived here was appointed to the church of San Martino. San Martino from the year 1000 was one of the first churches in the Maggiatal valley and a visit to it – in addition to the court building – is always worth while. The pillory chain, still attached to the corner of the building, is a symbol of those times of foreign rulers. An antique granary called a “Torba” dating back to 1376 is also of interest, as is the large Moretti house, which in earlier days was called the “Palazzo Cotti” (Cotti palace). (Schweizer Wanderwege)

If you are in need of accomodation I'd highly consider not descending to Prato Sornico, but taking the detour over Tomeo. It has a capanna (30chf for the night and additional 30chf for great half board). It also has a refugio for self service. Drinking Water available as well.

The way to pass is the lesser evil. Really bad is the way on the other side the descent between 1800 and 1400 hm hm after the turnoff to Tomeo hut. The exposed piece with the broken rope anchors is not for everyone. Winter has destroyed much here. The B & B above the village shop is highly recommended. Pure luxury for little money. Caution Board: Last shop on Ulrichen !!!

Beautiful route in a wild environment. After the passage of the Forcella di Redorta, some portions of the trail down to ALPE PERTUS are delicate and difficult to borrow in rainy and humid places ... Next, the trace can be covered by tall grass and a few passages rocks are slippery.
Maintenance (laying cables) were performed at the end of summer 2011 and the grass cut.
Step demanding grossly under-rated as to its difficulty.
