Leave Selma and start the very steep climb to the village of Landarenca. The aerial cable car can also be used. Continue in a northward direction on a gentle incline to reach the Piöv di Fuori pasture huts, from where the steep ascent to the Bocchetta di Pianca Geneura gap begins. Continue via the Örz Alp and the Mauro pass to reach the Capanna Alpe Cava hut, the stage destination.

L'étape jusqu'à Capanna Alpe Cava est longue; nous décidons donc d'aller jusqu'à Selma en bus, puis d'emprunter la télécabine automatique (fonctionnant donc 24h/24) jusqu'à Landarenca. Montée jusqu'à Piov di Fuori, où nous arrivons sous la pluie, puis plus loin orage de grêle et pluie pendant 2 heures. Nous décidons de redescendre alors que nous n'étions qu'à 350m de dénivelée du 1er col... pour retrouver finalement le beau temps en retrouvant Landarenca! Après la descente sur Selma, il y a des bus pour Bellinzona (d'où doit repartir Thierry), où nous avons trouvé l'hôtel Gamper, pas cher, près de la gare.
