(Monaco- Trieste direction). In St- Martin-Vésubie, the GPX track leads us towards a bridge over the river that no longer exists. It was destroyed by storm Alex in 2020. The passage is now further downriver, the track should be corrected.

We made this stage in the middle of a heat wave Friday, June 28, 2019. Leaving at 6am to have a little freshness, we arrived at the Col St Martin (Colmiane) after 1200m vertical drop. We needed a break and most of all we could rehydrate because our water supply was almost exhausted. We went to the "little mountain restaurant" with rustic wood decor and had a nice welcome. We drank quality tea while listening to Mozart. Too bad we could not stay because there was a delicious smell of the apple pie that was cooking ....

** There is a gite located in St. Sauveur for 20 euros. may be possible to bivouac by the river. Grocery store in town as well.

    Monaco- Trieste

Trail is easy to follow for this stage. High temperatures and minimal shade made this stage more difficult than it should have been. Plenty of refueling opportunities during this stage.

The trail from Rimplas to St. Sauveur should be approached with caution. Danger of falling rocks.

    Rimplas, joli village d'altitude.

Trieste-Monaco on 10/15/2014 Landscape Transition day to reach the valley of Vésubie: presence of oak, oxidized soil. The slopes are steep. Rimplas, pretty village of altitude. Stop at St Dalmas (valdeblore) to avoid "Niçoise Switzerland". Attention to the information on this site: the cottage marmots is not really open every day of the year because it is only open on weekends in the period. The lodging of the town center (which had a placard label GTA) has meanwhile never wanted to answer the phone ... while open all year. Not very reliable. Thank you to the owners of the cottage nearby who were willing to open their barn filled with hay! Can supply: grocery store, bar and bakery.

Hotel Valdeblore's two ladys are very friedly. A little shop is on an opposite side of the road to a good pizzeria/restaurant.

    Monaco - Trieste

From St Martin it goes up to Col Saint Martin at the ski resort area before going down smoothly in Vallee de la Tinee, catching up with GR5 in St Dalmas

Plenty of food and water available during that stage

It is easy to reach St sauveur de Tinee (cheap gite municipal available in St sauveur) from St Martin

St Martin Vesubie - Roure :7h10 of walking

    http://viaalpina2013.wordpress.com/2013/06/14/day-4-st-martin-vesubie-roure/

From St sauveur de Tinee to Roure there is only a +500m to reach Roure gite. only an extra hour walk from St sauveur
