Detailed route description
From the village of Piamprato cross the bridge over the Saniane stream and follow the GTA trail upwards. At an altitude of 1800m there is a fork which the walker must watch out for and turn right at (straight on leads the walker off track to a pasture). The climb continues to a stretch over the Giassetto stream which, being a little exposed, has been furnished with a guardrail. From an altitude of 1950m the trail becomes fainter over grass and rocks. At the top is the Bocchetta delle Oche pass. The descent into Valchiusella, via a well signposted track, is steep in parts but broad and pleasant. The lower part of the trail is through pastures until it hits the woods at the bottom of the valley. After that is the hamlet of Tallorno. At Tallorno there is nowhere to stay overnight. It is therefore necessary to continue along the road to Fondo di Valchiusella (2.5km) or even to Traversella where there is the Piazza hut. It is important to bear these factors in mind as they can add to the total walking time considerably.
(Regione Piemonte)
Other long-distance trails and alternative routes
The trail partly follows the route of GTA stage 231. It is possible to climb to the following peaks: Mount Marzo, Cima Bracca, Cima Chiaromonte, Punta Cavalcourt and Cima di Bonze.
