Leave Meiringen in the direction of the Reichenbachfälle waterfalls, which gained world renown thanks to Sherlock Holmes. Head up via Rosenlaui to the Grosse Scheidegg pass. The gentle descent at the foot of the Wetterhorn leads to Grindelwald, the stage destination. It is possible to take the Meiringen-Grindelwald bus at practically every point in this stage.
From Meiringen train station, walk along the main road to the Mili stream. Before the bridge, turn right onto the road and later cross the railway tracks and the Aare river. After another short stretch following the Grimselstrasse road, turn right at the first houses in Willigen village. The hiking trail now crosses the sharply bending road several times. To the right, you will see the funicular, which goes to the Reichenbachfall waterfall. Just before the Zwirgi mountain guesthouse, it is possible to visit the Reichenbachfall waterfall, which gained international fame thanks to Sherlock Holmes. From Zwirgi, head along the pass road, sometimes on a path especially built for pedestrians and then again back on the pass road for a short distance, to the Schönenboden area. The onward route to Rosenlaui is similar. From Rosenlaui, the pass road is closed to private car traffic. To the left, the sharp peaks of the Engelhörner rise up and next to them tower the rock bastions and ice streams of the Wellhörner and Wetterhörner. For those with the time and the will, it is possible to take a detour in Rosenlaui into the Rosenlaui ravine. Continue through woodland and across meadows on the hiking trail past the Schwarzwald Alp and Alpiglen on a constantly uphill course, repeatedly crossing the now car-free pass road. On arriving at the Grosse Scheidegg, a magnificent view awaits hikers here between the Schwarzhorn and the almost vertical faces of the Wetterhorn over the Grindelwald valley basin and as far as the Kleine Scheidegg. From the pass, take the footpath crossing the pass road several times down past the Obren and Undren Loichbiel to the Wetterhorn hotel. The Obere Grindelwald glacier hangs in the Wetterhorn massif, and until just a few years ago it reached far down into the valley. After a short stretch on the pass road, the footpath bends away again and leads across meadows and past holiday chalets to Grindelwald. (Schweizer Wanderwege)
Natural and cultural heritage
Grindelwald Grindelwald is mentioned for the first time in 1146 in an imperial donation certificate to the monastery of Interlaken. At the time, several noble families and as of 1308 also the Dukes of Austria exercised seigniorial rights over the valley. Gradually however, a substantial part of the valley became the property of the monastery of Interlaken. During the turmoil of the Reformation in 1528, the entire valley population was governed by the canton of Bern. In the year 1669, almost 800 people fell victim to the plague. The first tourists came to Grindelwald in the late 17th century. Due to a lack of other accommodation possibilities, they were first housed in the parish house and in inns. For instance, in the year 1818, the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm III of the Hohenzollern House and his son, the future Emperor Wilhelm I, were guests of the parish priest of Grindelwald. In 1880, there were already 10 hotels and guesthouses with 615 beds. Until then, cattle breeding and alpine farming had been the main economic sectors, but gradually an increasing number found employment and earned their living through tourism. The first winter sports guests arrived in 1888 and amused themselves with sledging, ice-skating and curling. In 1891, skiing became an additional sporting option. In 1892, the outer half of the village fell victim to a fire. The flames fanned by the foehn wind completely destroyed 44 inhabited and 72 uninhabited buildings. The construction of the Bernese Oberland (1890), the Wengernalpbahn (1893) and the Jungfraubahn (1912) railways undoubtedly triggered the development of Grindelwald into a world-renowned tourist destination. The appearance of the glacier village is influenced by the tourist buildings. The church of St. Maria was built in 1793 and has a tower dating back to 1875. The nave is covered by a decorated flat ceiling. Near the church stands the parish house of 1785 and the local history museum. (Schweizer Wanderwege)

Right here is the perfect website for anyone who hopes to find out
about this topic. You realize a whole lot its almost tough to argue with you (not that I really would want to HaHa).
You definitely put a new spin on a subject that's been written about for a long time.
Great stuff, just great!

It is very long hike. And it can be hot along the lower part. I did not make it to the Grosse Scheidegg pass due to lack of preparation and bad weather.
