VALSESIA’S ECOMUSEUM Fotogalerie
RESORT: Valsesia - Province of Vercelli LENGTH: 7 days PROGRAMME: 1st day: Varallo, the capital of Valsesia Tour of the town, through a trail made of narrow quarters, internal courtyards and a thick weave of religious buildings with a high art value. Tour of Sacro Monte di Varallo Nature Reserve, a sanctuary desired by Franciscan Bernardino Caimi in 1491 and now Unesco heritage. Typical lunch, dinner in Hotel. 2nd day: Alagna, the Walser stronghold Castled under the southern side of Monte Rosa, Alpine hamlet founded around 1200 by Walser settlers, Alagna is nowadays a fundamental stage on Valsesia’s Ecomuseum (open-air museum, n.d.T.) for the presence of stone ovens, mills and the ancient water sawmill. The day is dedicated to discovering such world. Typical lunch and dinner in Hotel. 3rd day: Mollia A day dedicated to a unique hike along the Valley with a stop at Mollia Mill to visit the impressive complex with its water forge. Typical lunch and dinner in Hotel. 4th day: Rima San Giuseppe Visit of the hamlet, famous in European courts around 1700 because of the practice of “false marble”, a technique envisaging to realize “false” marble slabs as a decoration through a skilled use of colours. Demonstration and visit to Dalla Vedova Museum. Typical lunch and dinner in Hotel. 5th day: Rassa’s lime klins This day is dedicated to the visit of the wonderful Artogna Valley and particularly to the hamlet of Rassa, better known as the town of terrific ones, a village truly embedded into the mountains! Typical lunch and dinner in Hotel. 6th day: Rimella and San Gottardo This day is dedicated to a hike to the hamlet of San Gottardo, last bulwark of Walser culture, where the old German dialect is still spoken nowadays.
