Historical and architectural information:
This protection battery, positioned on Mount Saccarello’s top, was realized around 1900, in a visual connection with Montescio Fort and the system of Nava’s Forts; it dominated the alpine circle all around, in particular the valleys on the French side that came up from Briga and the different hills between Mount Bertrand and Collardente. It was armed with four cannons. Behind the crest, in the area between Passo Tanarello and Passo Garlenda, several barracks lodged the troops and the materials used for defence.
