Via Alpina on the Great War's Dolomite front

 

Description of the project: The project’s aim is to lead people do re-discover historical and cultural heritage linked to the Great War’s events through the routes, the trenches and the fortifications that were built during the 1915-1918 conflict. It’s about paths and military buildings positioned along the whole Via Alpina route, which were known as the “Dolomite front” between the high Agordino and d’Ampezzo valleys. The war left behind permanent signs on these rocks, which became a destination for hikers while keeping the memories of historical events so full of meaning alive. The aim is linking historical reality and hiking together in order to emphasize these particular sites along the Via Alpina, by involving both tour operators and those who actually experienced history.     Further information:
