PROGRAMME:

Five days by mountain bike and on foot among the peaks of Alta Valle Pellice, Monviso and in the Waldensians’ historical places. A very varied tour between high mountain environments, traces of prehistory and attestations of Waldensian persecutions. 

1st day – mountain bike: meeting at Bobbio Pellice (m 734) and ascent to Barbara Lowrie refuge (m 1753), riding along the bowl of Carbonieri along a steep road.

Rise+: m 1030

2nd day - mountain bike: Baracun Tour from Barbara refuge. Classical loop tour in high Pellice valley: you reach Barant refuge (m 2373) on a mule track, next to which is Peyronel botanical garden (m 2290), then go down towards green conca del Prà bowl, a large plane of glacial origins (geological site of Province of Torino) where the Jervis refuge is; descent towards Villanova-Bobbio Pellice and ascent again by car towards Barbara refuge

3rd day - trek: from Barbara refuge you go up to colle Manzol (m 2701), from where you can enjoy an excellent view on Pellice valley’s highest peaks, then pass by the Black lake and arrive at Batt. Alpini Monte Granero refuge (m 2377), near the Long lake

4th day - trek: In this leg, quite long but varied, you cross the French border in Queyras – valley of Guil through the pass of Seillière (m 2851)- then go up again through the hole of Viso (m 2882, first Alpine tunnel, opened in 1481), which takes us back to Italy in the Po valley. We close the 2-day loop by going back to Barbara refuge from the pass Armoine (m 2692)

5th day - trek & bike: from Torre Pellice (m 545) to Sea di Torre (m 1200) by mountain bike and continuation on foot in the areas where Waldensians found a shelter during their persecutions. In the whereabouts there are also some stone carvings and a prehistoric altar. Possibilty to visit the Waldensian museum in Torre Pellice.

The fee includes: 4 overnight stays in a refuge, breakfast and dinner included for the whole length of the journey, 1 nature-mountain bike guide for the whole length of the journey, welcome dinner, afternoon tea on the last day.
